Bass baritone Edward Grint performed the role of Christus

Our performance of Bach’s St John Passion, with six excellent soloists, ‘conveyed both the drama and the emotional power of this timeless work’, says critic Alan Nafzger, writing in the Herts Advertiser on 28 March.

Nafzger praises the soloists, who included Mark Dobell and St Albans-based bass baritone Edward Grint, for their performances with Orchestra Nova in St Albans Cathedral on Saturday 23 March. He says that the choir ‘rose powerfully and tirelessly to the challenge’, and that Music Director George Vass sustained the dramatic momentum while allowing the more contemplative moments due space.

It was ‘a memorable evening’, Nafzger concludes.
