We did it! Feeling happy after our day of musical challenges

Choral Society members enjoyed a fabulous workshop with Scott Inglis-Kidger on Saturday 28 Sept, kindly organised by soprano Alison Debenham. After some interesting physical and vocal warm-ups, we got to work on four gorgeous pieces by Dering, Palestrina, Rheinberger and Byrd.

These workshops are open to all our members, and offer the chance to sing different types of music in a chamber choir setting. The added exposure for each voice part is challenging and uplifting, and Scott encouraged us, as always, to produce some beautiful sounds, helped by the acoustic in Dagnall Street Baptist Church Hall. We were kept fuelled throughout the day with tea, coffee, fruit and delicious home-made cakes and biscuits.

We had a final run-through (mini performance) of all the pieces, followed by a big round of applause for Scott’s first-class teaching. Alison D was presented with a bouquet and a bottle of fizz, with thanks from all the singers. Thanks, too, to everyone who helped out, making it a fabulous day.
