Rod Cowper capitalised on his powerful drives and local knowledge to romp home as winner of the 2020 Choir Golf Day with 37 points. The competition took place at Verulam Golf Club on 10 July and was contested by five Choir members and one partner, in cool and breezy conditions,
Second place went to Jon Harris Bass with 33 points with Colin Dunkerley third on 31 points. Jacqui Dixon took nearest the pin at the “over the road” 17th hole while predictably, Rod won the longest drive on the par 5 9th hole.
Benefiting from the recent re-opening of bars, the players enjoyed a post match drink on the terrace with appropriate social distancing. Last year’s winner, Alistair Holt-Thomas presented the prestigious Trophy (created several years ago by Jon Harris-Bass) to Rod.
Thanks go to Rod Cowper for organising the event and to Jon Harris-Bass (also a VGC member) for co-hosting the golf.
