We were delighted to receive an invitation to Radio Verulam Breakfast Show on the 9th December, just days prior to our Christmas concerts at Marlborough Road Methodist Church in St Albans. Our annual celebration of live Christmas music featuring the world premiere of James Francis Brown’s “Hertfordshire Carols” (commissioned by Clare Browne, a  former SACS  member, in memory of her mother) was dubbed “a highlight of the Festive Season in St Albans” by Radio Verulam radio presenter Steve Simpson, which we consider a big merit among the vast events offering during the Christmas season in St Albans!

SACS Music Director, George Vass, also spoke about how well the choir coped during the lockdowns over the past two years, with 73 online rehearsals led by the former Assistant Conductor Augustina Kapoti and organised by the choir Committee, motivated the members of the choir to keep singing and staying socially and musically active, especially during periods of complete isolation. Following the interview, we gave two nearly sold-out performances on the 12th December in support of Centre 33 St Albans, raising a greatly generous amount of 1026,55 GBP for the homeless shelter. A huge thank you to the supporters (including Radio Verulam) and our fantastic audiences! It was a truly emotional musical and personal experience, bringing out the best of Christmas to our community!
